Sync

This panel co-ordinates the importation of new data from a backup/more recent version of the application/your records to the version currently open.

New data consists of:

(a) records not in the version currently open

and/or

(b) amendments to records in the version currently open.

This facility should be used after you move from a copy of the application on one device (for example, your PC) to a copy on another device (for example, your laptop) to ensure that both versions are drawing on the same dataset.

Running from the top to the bottom of this layout, left to right:

sync

Click this button to import new data only from a more recent version of the application to the version currently open.

To facilitate this:

i. connect the source file to the current device (for example, insert the flash drive that your backup is stored on into a USB in your PC), or ensure that it is available on your network.

ii. click the button labelled sync.

iii. Select your sync source.

If you selected the backup the application option on the settings panel:

Select the source data file from the source directory; it will have the prefix little acorns, be followed by date and time stamps (in the format DDMMYYYY and HHMMSS), and, finally, the suffix .fmpur.

For example, a backup file created on 1 January 2030 at nine o’clock in the morning will be labelled:

Little Acorns_01012030_090000.fmpur

If you selected the backup your records only option on the settings panel:

Select the source data folder from the source directory; it will have the prefix little acorns, and be followed by date and time stamps (in the format DDMMYYYY and HHMMSS).

For example, a backup folder created on 1 January 2030 at nine o’clock in the morning will be labelled:

Little Acorns_01012030_090000

iv. press the on-screen button labelled OK.

The application will import new data from the backup to the version currently open.

This process is irreversible.
