This layout facilitates the conversion of records imported from a flat data file into a format that may be incorporated into the application.
The facility accepts data stored in .csv, .tab, and .txt files.
If the records that you wish to import are not in one of these file formats, it is suggested that you first export records from the original data source in one of these formats; then, import same into the application.
If a Category, Project, or Company title in your import source file is already in the application, it will not be imported.
However, if you attempt to import a Note under one of these headings that is in the application, that Note will be imported.
For example, if the application already contains the Project
The Secret Garden
an attempt to import a Project record
The Secret Garden
to the Project heading would be redundant.
However, an attempt to import a record from the import source that contains the Project
The Secret Garden
Plus Notes under same will work; the Notes will be imported, and stored under the existing Project
The Secret Garden
It is assumed that the import source file contains some of the fields in the application. If it does not contain all of the fields necessary, the missing data will be created as required.
For example, if you attempt to import a record to the Project heading that is simply a Project title without a created or modified date, the import process will populate these fields with the current date.

field labels
It cannot be assumed that the fields in your import source file possess the same names as their counterparts in the application, or that they are in precisely the same order in which they appear in the application.
However, if the fields imported are not in the order expected by the application, they will not populate the correct fields in the application when you click the button labelled save.
Situating a field label above a column ensures that records in the column below it are imported to that field in the application.
You may align columns to the nearest matching field title using the arrows to the right and left of the corresponding field label on this layout.
For example, say that you wish to import the record
The Secret Garden
to the Project heading.
On cueing this layout, however, you notice that the Project name The Secret Garden appears under the column labelled project created; so will be imported to the column labelled project created after you click the button labelled save.
You may rectify this by clicking the arrow to the right of the label project. This will move the field label project above the correct column.
After you have moved field labels above appropriate columns of data, click the button labelled save to import them into the application.
